We want to reduce the running costs associated with frequent spray nozzle replacement...
We are using spray nozzles to cool down high temperature corrosive gas and force it into a dust chamber. The performance of our current spray nozzles degrades rapidly, and the spray nozzles are rendered useless within three months owing to heat erosion. If we were to continue using the spray nozzles when they no longer perform optimally our facility would suffer damage that would cost of tens of millions of Yen to rectify. Until now we've accepted the necessity of replacing the spray nozzles after a short period (at a cost of 0.9 million Yen) as being an unavoidable running expense. Please advise us of any countermeasures that would improve cost-efficiency.

Your current stainless steel nozzles can be replaced with nozzles made of a material called stellite. Stellite can withstand the harsh, corrosive conditions better than stainless steel. Spray nozzles made of this material are relatively expensive on account of the fact that it costs so much to process the material because of its hardness, so the cost of replacing the spray nozzles each time would be twice that of replacing your current spray nozzles. However, we estimate that you would not have to replace stellite nozzles for a year or so. Taking into account your current replacement costs and spray nozzle lifespan, and balancing these against the cost and lifespan of stellite nozzles, your overall running costs would be cut in half.
